Buffalo Plans To Crack Down On Drivers Speeding Near Schools

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Buffalo city leaders say they have a plan to crack down on drivers speeding through school zones.

Officials say the city speed limit is 30 mph, while near schools there are 15 mph signs. WGRZ-TV reports that there is no actual current law enforcing the speed limits in school zones.

Council member Joel Feroleto proposed a law Tuesday that would let police pull over anyone going over 15 mph outside schools. Feroleto says expects swift approval from the council.

Buffalo schools say the move is overdue.

Feroleto says there will be public meetings in the coming months so officials can figure out how to best enforce the law before the next school year begins.
