It was not the kind of court appearance one sees every day in a big city.

Judge Mindy S. Glazer remembers where she came from, and apparently who was there with her.

Glazer received her undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and then went on to receive her law degree from St. Thomas University.  But it was her education before high school that obviously made an impression on her.

As a child Glazer attended Nautilus Middle School in Miami Beach, Florida.  So too, apparently, did a suspect in a burglary who came before her during a bail hearing on June 30, 2015.

After reading the case number Judge Glazer addresses the Arthur Booth:

Glazer: "Ok, Mr. Booth, I have a question for you."

Booth: "Yes, m'am."

Glazer: "Did you go to Nautilus, for middle school?"

Recognizing Glazer as his former classmate he says, "Oh my Goodness, oh my Goodness."  He then tears up and begins weeping.

The exchange was caught on closed circuit television in the courtroom.  The screen shows Glazer and Booth on a split-screen where the reactions of both of them are seen at the same time.

Booth says, "I'm sorry to see you here.  I always wondered what happened to you, Sir." Then, addressing others in the courtroom she says, "This was the nicest kid in middle school.  He was the best kid in middle school.  I used to play football with him..."

She closes by saying, "Good luck to you, Sir.  I hope you're able to come out of this ok and lead a lawful life."

It was an exchange that the two will remember for a long time to come.
