BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A 34-year-old Canadian man has been sentenced to five years in prison for smuggling cocaine across the U.S.-Canadian border in the Buffalo-Niagara region.

Federal officials in Buffalo say Gursharan Singh of Brompton, Ontario was part of a group involved in smuggling drugs from the U.S. into Canada via international bridges between 2007 and 2011.

Investigators believe approximately 2,000 kilograms of cocaine were trafficked by Singh's organization. Five others have been convicted in the conspiracy.
