Canastota Man Charged With Welfare Fraud

A Canastota man has been arrested on welfare fraud and other charges.

The Madison County Sheriff's Office says 51-year old Michael Sanderson allegedly submitted a public assistance application to the Department of Social Services and failed to report his income.

They say as a result of the fraudulent act, Sanderson collected over $1,100 in public assistance.

Sanderson is also charged with grand larceny and offering a false instrument for filing.
