Oriskany, NY (WIBX) - Why spend money on expensive mulch and fertilizer when you can do it yourself?

The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County is offering a "Composting at Home" class tomorrow night at their office in Oriskany, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Those attending will learn from expert master gardeners how to build and maintain their own compost sites.

Holly Wise, Extension Educator with the group, said composting is a great way to recycle food scraps and maintain gardens.

"There's many benefits," Wise said.  "You're making your own natural fertilizers that you can add nutrients back to your garden plants, even your lawn. And, you're not going out and spending lots of money."

The cost to attend tomorrow night's class is $5. To register for the "Composting at Home" class, call the Extension Office at 736-3394.
