Utica, NY (WIBX) - Effective Today, The Children's Miracle Network is adding "Hospitals" to its name as well as announcing that its changing its red and yellow balloon logo. CMNH Coordinator at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare Foundation, Michelle Adams said the move will help boost support for the charity as well as solidify its purpose.

"The new name of Children's Miracle Network is now Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Our goal is to become a top 3 children's charity and we carefully evaluated our brand and we compared it to other children's charities. We really wanted to understand why people donated to us as well as why they didn't," Adams said.

Adams said it also became clear based on the research that people needed to better understand what CMNH actually does in the community. Some of the group's work includes providing funding to over 170 hospitals throughout the U.S. and Canada Adams said. Locally, Adams added that the group's impact is measured with St. Luke's only Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) that was made possible thanks to funds generated through CMNH.

Adams said, "One of the things I think sometimes people don't realize about our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital is that all of the funds that we raise here in our community, stay here in our community. So, when you're out at a Walmart, or a Rite-Aid or a Kenney Drugs or you're participating in one of the many special events, or a Miracle Home Makeover Project--all of those funds that are raised through those activities, they all stay right here in our community and help support programs and services and provide life saving pediatric equipment for children and their families."
