Utica, NY (WIBX) - Board members from the Children's Museum were on hand earlier today for the ribbon cutting ceremony of its new Educational Surround Sound Theatre exhibit on the fourth floor.

Marlene Brown, Executive Director of the Children's Museum, says that the new space will encourage children to become more interested in science, technology, engineering and math.

"Statistics and studies have shown that if you get kids interested and excited at an early age with STEM, they will go on and those are where the careers are going to be," Brown said. "That's where our next 'Steve Jobs' inventors will come from."

The theatre is equipped with a large screen television and has enough space to hold meetings and programs. NASA will also provide the museum with educational programming videos aimed towards children.

The Children's Museum plans to hold its next unveiling o November 18.
