A Brooklyn woman is in custody for allegedly smuggling synthetic marijuana, commonly called "spice" or "K2," into the Mohawk Correctional Facility in Rome, New York.

An investigation by the New York State Inspector General's Office revealed that 24-year old China M. Jenkins brought the drug into the visitors' area of the facility.  New York State Police say she was "caught after passing this substance to an inmate at the facility that she had traveled...to see."

Jenkins, of Riverdale Avenue in Brooklyn, is now facing a misdemeanor charge of promoting prison contraband in the second degree.
