Clinton Man Killed In Kirkland Crash

A Clinton man is dead after crashing his car into a utility pole.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Office says 28-year old Thomas Powers lost control of his vehicle on College Hill Road in the Town of Kirkland just before midnight on Sunday, went off the road, struck a ditch and hit the utility pole, shearing it in half.

Powers was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the accident is still under investigation but it's believed speed was a factor.
