A community forum will be held on Thursday morning, November 17th at Mohawk Valley Community College to discuss heroin and opioid abuse.

It's a partnership between the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, the Department of Justice and MVCC.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Michael Nerney, former Director of the Training Institute of Narcotic and Drug Research.

Nerney will discuss current drug abuse trends among adolescents and young adults and new trends on the streets and in the schools.

There will be two separate presentations in the Schafer Theater.

The first will run from 8:00 to 9:00 and will target professionals who deal with substance abuse issues in their jobs.  The second is open to the general public and will take place from 9:30 until 10:30.

Registration begins at 7:30.
