Daniel Murphy Misses Mets’ Opener – Wife Giving Birth

While he is expected to be the Mets' everyday - or almost everyday - second baseman, Daniel Murphy was noticeably absent from the team's lineup on Opening Day.

But, for good reason.

Murphy is in Florida to be with his wife as the couple is welcoming their first child.

After the birth, Murphy will fly back to New York and rejoin the team. He'll likely be in the lineup for the Mets' second game of the year, on Wednesday vs. the Nationals.
