Marcy, NY (WIBX) - The deadline is closing in for producers looking to purchase crop coverage through the Non-insurable Crop Disaster Assistance Program.

According to Donna Purdy, with the Oneida County USDA Farm Service Agency, the deadline for purchases is September 4th. The deadline is technically September 1st, but because it falls on a weekend and Labor Day is the following Monday, the date was moved.

Crop coverage through NAP provides help to producers with low crop yields due to natural disasters, and covers losses greater than 50 percent of the crop's expected yield.

To be eligible for NAP, crop coverage must not be offered by the Risk Management Agency for the county.

For more information and to apply for coverage, call the Oneida County FSA office at (315) 736-3316, extension 2.
