Utica, NY (WIBX) - The League of Women Voters is hosting a breakfast event with special guest speaker, Commissioner RoAnn Destito, at the Dorothy Smith Advocacy Center of RCIL on Genesee Street in Utica.The event is happening on Saturday, March 17.

The focus of Destito's talk will be on her new position as Commissioner of the New York State Office of General Services, a post she was appointed to last year by Governor Andrew Cuomo, after an 18 year tenure as Assemblywoman for the 116th District.

Organizers say Destito will address the challenges and responsibilities of her new job, as well as, mandate relief issues. According to officials, in light of the governor's reform agenda, "OGS is poised to take on the challenge of creating a modernized government that does more with less."

Those interested in attending the Saturday, 3/17 event are required to RSVP by Wednesday, 3/14, by calling (315) 733-6244, and leaving your name, number of people attending, contact number and if special accommodations such as sign language interpretation are needed. The Dorothy Smith Advocacy Center of RCIL is located at 1607 Genesee Street in Utica, (at the corner of Scott and Genesee Street.)  Registration is at 9:30 a.m., breakfast at 10:00 a.m., with the presentation following just after breakfast. Parking is available adjacent to the building, and the center is fully accessible.
