The Herkimer County Humane Society is accepting donations for the dozen dogs that were found severely neglected over the weekend.
In New Hartford, the animal rights group Laney's Army is manning a drop off location on Commercial Drive next to Moe's until 7 p.m. tonight and again from 2 to 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Erena Figler of Laney's Army said 50 people had already dropped off dozens of items within the first ten minutes today. These pictures show what was collected within just the first half hour this afternoon.

She added that the dogs are in stable condition.

A bottle drive will also be held at the same location this Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m.

Aside from food, blankets and bedding, here are some other items that the Humane Society says are still needed and would be a big help.

  • Bleach
  • Rubber gloves
  • Dog toys
  • Totes
  • Thank you cards
  • Stamps

Monetary donations are also being accepted to help pay for doggy antibiotics to help fight the mange and Lyme disease the dogs have contracted.
