SOUTH HERO, Vt. (AP) — A 72-year-old driver is recovering at a hospital after a large chunk of ice blew off a tractor trailer and crashed through her windshield.

Grand Isle County Sheriff Ray Allen tells the Burlington Free Press (http://bfpne.ws/205Aw0f) Judith Donaghy of North Hero was hospitalized Saturday after suffering "major facial trauma." He said her injuries were not life-threatening and she's expected to be released Tuesday.

The truck was travelling eastbound on the U.S. Route 2 causeway in South Hero on Saturday when the accident occurred. The truck didn't stop. Allen said he has descriptions of the vehicle and the potential truck company. He doesn't expect to file charges, saying there's no evidence the driver knew something had happened.

Vermont doesn't have a law regarding the removal of snow and ice from trucks.
