ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — Twenty-four community groups from around New York will receive a total of $1.4 million in state grants for environmental justice projects.

The money from New York's Environmental Protection Fund is designed to help communities facing multiple sources of environmental burdens and risks.

For instance, Poughkeepsie Gardens and the Albany South End Environmental Justice Project each will receive $50,000. The City of Auburn Healthy Homes Initiative will receive $34,000.
