Town of Paris, NY (WIBX) - Two people are dead following a two car accident in the Town of Paris. The Oneida County Sheriff's Office CID and Forensics units, State Police, Clayville Fire Department, Waterville Fire Department,  Paris Hill Fire Department, and State DOT completed their investigation of the crash that claimed the lives of a Pennsylvania couple yesterday.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, 52-year old Richard L. Holmes and 49-year old Kristin J. Holmes of West Chester were pronounced dead on the scene after the car being driven by Mr. Holmes skidded sideways and entered oncoming traffic in the opposite  lane, crashing into the vehicle driven by 65-year old John M. Colabelli of Earlville, NY. Officials say the cause of the crash was due to Mr. Holmes' "unsafe speed" coupled with "strong blowing snow" across the road.

The couples two daughters, 12 and 15-year old, were in the back seat,  including the family dog and had to be extricated with the Jaws of Life. All three sustained minor injuries. The girls were treated at a local hospital and released to relatives. The family dog was taken to a local Veterinary clinic for treatment and will be turned over to family members at a later date.

The occupant of the other vehicle, Mr. Colabelli was also taken to the hospital for multiple traumas.

The accident occurred on Route 12 in the Town of Paris, South of the Shanley Road intersection around 1:48pm according to police records.
