Forestport Man Electrocuted While Aiding Motorist

Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - State Police are investigating the death of a Forestport man who was killed while helping a motorist involved in an accident.

It happened yesterday afternoon on Wheelertown Road in the Town of Russia.

Police say 32-year old Nelson Leigh made contact with a live power line that had collapsed after a car collided with a utility pole.

He fell to the ground, unresponsive.

Leigh was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
