UPDATED 9/21 4:07 p.m.- Frankfort Police say the school was put on lockdown Friday afternoon after a written threat was found on a bathroom wall.

They say the Frankfort Junior/High School was placed on lockdown to insure the safety of students and staff.

Students were released in a controlled manner once everythingwas deemed safe.

Police say more details will be released at a later date as the incident remains under investigation.

Village of Frankfort Police were assisted by State Police, Ilion and Herkimer Police and the Herkimer County Sheriff's Department.

The Frankfort-Schuyler High School and Middle School are on lockdown.

The school was reportedly put on lockdown after a threat was found written on a bathroom wall during the last class of the day.

Students will be released under a controlled dismissal.
