The Genesis Group is throwing its support behind Mohawk Valley Health System's downtown Utica hospital project.

Executive Director Ray Durso says the Genesis Group believes the project will positively impact the region's economy and quality of life.

"We support the project because it is aligned with our vision to be a trusted advocate and partner for regional growth, economic vitality, innovation and positive change," said Durso

Representatives from the Greater Utica Chamber of Commerce, the Community Foundation of Herkimer and Oneida Counties and Mohawk Valley EDGE were on hand for today's announcement.

All three groups have previously endorsed the hospital project.

A number of elected officials, including Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente, Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi and Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri, joined the four organizations in offering statements of support for the project.

Picente says it's time to move forward with the hospital project and to have an argument over where and how is quote -- "just ridiculous."

MVHS must file a Certificate of Need application with the state in early November.
