On National Voter Registration Day, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is calling for a modernization of the country's online voter registration system.

With only half of American voters eligible to register to vote online, Gillibrand is introducing federal legislation that would bring the election process into the 21st century by allowing every eligible voter in the country to register online.

Gillibrand says right now 100 million people don't have access to online registration and in 2012, 33 million eligible voters nationwide were not registered to vote.

Gillibrand's 'Voter Registration Modernization Act' would require all states to allow eligible voters to register online to vote and update their information electronically, saving states millions of dollars.
