Gillibrand Trying To Keep Disaster Dollars Intact

Washington, DC (WIBX) - Irene and Lee are prompting action from Kirsten.

New York's junior Senator is urging the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Committee to protect the Disaster Mitigation and Disaster Relief Funds.

Citing the fact that more than two-thirds of the counties in New York received disaster declarations last year, Gillibrand says billions of dollars were needed to rebuild infrastructure, and the state cannot do without that funding.

The Senator's push comes after meetings held across the state with business and community leaders.
