Senator Joseph Griffo and Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi are unveiling a package of bills to reform the state's Common Core requirements.

The legislation would direct the State Board of Regents to reduce the length of tests and provide more test transparency to students and parents.

The legislation would also separate teacher evaluations from test results and repeal the state takeover of failing schools.

Brindisi says the three bills provide fairer ways to evaluate students, teachers and individual schools by cutting down on the amount of time tests take from classroom learning and by providing a more significant role for parents, teachers and students.

Griffo and Brindisi are hoping the legislature will take up the measures the before the end of the session in June.
