The Chairman of the State Senate Committee on Mental Health and Developmenal Disabilities and co-chair of the Joint Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction was in Utica on Wednesday

Senator Robert Ortt, along with Senator Joseph Griffo, was at the State Office Building to talk with local mental health advocates and families of developmentally disabled individuals.

Ortt also discussed the heroin and opioid epidemic with local officials. He says the Senate is expected to release a report in the next few days outlining the steps that need to be taken to fight the crisis.

Ortt says meeting with local residents provides him with valuable insight as he considers issues that may need to be addressed in the future by the Senate Mental Committee and the Heroin Task Force.
