Sergeant Major Wiley Jones of Marcy has been inducted into the New York State Senate Veterans' Hall of Fame.

State Senator and Deputy Minority Leaders Joe Griffo recognized Jones during a special ceremony in Albany on Tuesday.

The Hall of Fame was created to honor and recognize outstanding veterans from New York State who have distinguished themselves both in military and civilian life.

"Sergeant Major Jones is an outstanding example of today's highly trained and professional soldier," Griffo said. "He has selflessly served his country since he first enlisted in the Army, has demonstrated remarkable leadership abilities in a variety of roles and has shown a strong commitment to his community, including three decades as a volunteer firefighter for the Maynard Fire Department. It is an honor to recognize Sergeant Major Jones and all the other men and women who are being inducted this year into the Senate's Veterans' Hall of Fame."

Sergeant Major Jones is a veteran of two tours in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, one tour in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and New Dawn and was deployed in support of Operation Desert Storm and Desert Shield.
