State Senator Joseph Griffo wants the state to settle the "I Love NY" signage issue as soon as possible.

Griffo has written to the heads of the State Department of Transportation and State Thruway Authority, urging a quick resolution to the matter.

More than 500 of the large blue signs signs have been installed across the state over the last several years.

The federal government has said that the signs are considered out of compliance with signage rules because they are a safety risk for drivers.

The Federal Highway Administration recently said it would withhold $14 million in funding from the state if the signs aren't brought under compliance with federal rules by September 30th.

If the state meets that deadline, then the funding will be reinstated.
