Washington, D.C. (WIBX) - President Obama's call for a pay freeze for all civilian federal employees has the suppport of Congressman-elect Richard Hanna. The Barneveld Republican says he is pleased to see the President enacting real policies in an effort to reduce the deficit.

That freeze is projected to save $2-billion through this fiscal year, and $28-billion over five years.

Hanna says it would be a step toward showing the American people that their elected officials are listening to concerns about the nation's finances.

A press release from Hanna says since President Obama took office, the federal civilian workforce has grown by 15%. "Congress should impose a net hiring freeze and reevaluate the need for an increasingly large bureaucracy," the release said.
