More than $325 million in funding is available to help elderly and low to moderate-income New Yorkers heat their homes this winter.

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi says applications for the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP, will be accepted beginning next Monday, November 14th.

Eligible households can receive a one-time benefit of up to $626, depending on income, household size and heating source.

Brindisi says last year, over 45,000 people in the Mohawk Valley Region received benefits.

There is also an emergency benefit available for families in danger of losing their heat.  Brindisi says the program is available beginning January 3rd from county Social Services departments.
