Starting on Monday, December 4th, the Herkimer Police Department will be using the Herkimer County 911 Dispatch Center to receive calls from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Chief Mike Jory says there will not be a officer assigned to the police desk during those hours, allowing an officer to be on active patrol.

Jory says a 911 phone box has been installed outside of the front door of the Village office

The phone will automatically dial into the Police Department and if not answered in three rings, it will roll over to the 911 Dispatch Center.  Once the call is taken by a dispatcher, an officer will be assigned to the police station to handle the complaint.

The phone is not capable of making any other calls.

Those with an emergency are asked to call 911.
