Holland Patent Man Arrested for Attempting to Rob Pharmacy
The Oneida County Sheriff's office has arrested a man for allegedly attempting to rob the pharmacy on Main Street in Holland Patent.
Deputies responded to the pharmacy at around 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning for a reported robbery in progress. When they arrived they located 30-year-old John Potter in the store and he was taken into custody without incident.
Store employees say that Potter was attempting to buy medication for which he had no prescription for. When they told him they would not sell the drug to him, he became irate. He then went behind the counter and became physical with the workers in an effort to get the medication. A male customer entered the store and was able to back Potter down.
An investigation led the Sheriff's deputies to arrest Potter and charge him with attempted robbery in the third degree, a class E felony. He was arraigned in the Town of Trenton Court and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 Bond. Potter will return to court at a later date.
