An inmate at the Mohawk Correctional Facility is facing two charges after State Police say he allegedly possessed narcotic drugs while in jail.

In December, Jorge Rivera, 29, was found to have had Buprenorphine while confined at the Rome facility.

Buprenorphine is also called Suboxone or Subutex and is used to wean people off heroin and other opioid drugs.

Rivera is charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and Promoting Prison Contraband, both felonies.
