The mother of an inmate at the Oneida County Jail is facing charges herself, accused of passing her son a controlled substance during a visit.

Christine Schremmer of Westmoreland allegedly gave her son a Buprenorphine pill, which is a schedule 3 controlled substance. Schremmer now faces a felony charge of promoting prison contraband.

The transaction was thwarted by Correction Officers and Ms. Schremmer was taken into custody without incident. She was arraigned and remanded to the Oneida County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash or bond bail, and is scheduled to return to Court at a later date.
