Just because The Great New York State Fair has begun doesn't mean the surprises are over.

The New York State Fair announced late Sunday night that the popular Celtic Rock band, Dropkick Murphys, are going to be headlining a free show at Chevy Court.

The show is slated for Tuesday, August 28th at 8:00 p.m. The Dropkick Murphys are taking the place of Dickey Betts, who suffered a mild stroke and had to cancel.

Acting Fair Director Troy Waffner says, "We’re thrilled to be able to bring Dropkick Murphys to the Fair. This is going to be a great night, one of the best party nights of the year at the Fair, and it’s a night not to be missed."

This popular Celtic Rock band has been going strong for 20 years and have sold over 6 millions records. One of their most popular songs, "Shipping Up To Boston," was featured in the 2006 Award-winning film "The Departed."

The Great New York State Fair runs now through Labor Day.
