With snowmobile season here, local law enforcement agencies are focusing on snowmobile safety.

A news conference was held today at the Deerfield Fire Department to talk about laws and safety tips for snowmobilers.

Oneida County Sheriff Rob Maciol says snowmobile patrols will be out on the trails enforcing the laws.

Maciol says they'll be looking out for imprudent speed, reckless operation, unregistered and uninsured snowmobiles and snowmobiling while intoxicated.  He says one of the most important things to remember when out on the trails is to show respect to the property owners in which the trails run through.

There are over 540 miles of groomed snowmobile trails in Oneida County.
