Herkimer, NY (WIBX) - A Little Falls woman has admitted to running over and killing a 74-year-old man with his own car.

Although the victim died, prosecutor Jeff Carpenter says Jennifer Riesel was allowed to plead guilty to attempted murder in exchange for 16 years in prison. She's already serving an upto 4 year sentence for grand larceny.

Riesel says the victim, Francis Nelson, told her he was suffering from a terminal illness and offered to make her the beneficiary on his life insurance policy if she killed him.

Carpenter says the investigation revealed that none of Nelson's insurance policies were changed to include Riesel.

She'll be officially sentenced on March 7th in Herkimer County Court.

Riesel was initailly charged with second-degree murder.
