The Oneida County Sheriff's Office was on the scene late Sunday night of a fatal snowmobile crash in the Town of Remsen.

Officials say, the accident occurred on NY Snowmobile Trail C4. They also say, 26-year-old Benjamin Lahan of Liverpool was riding with two other friends at the time of the crash.

Lahan rode ahead of the group when he lost control of his sled negotiating a curve in the trail. As a result, he was ejected from his snowmobile and struck a tree.

Lahan's friends found him a short time later and called 911. When first responders arrived on scene, life saving measures were attempted but Lahan succumbed to his injuries on scene.

The investigation is still ongoing.
