Major League Baseball Announces their Post Season Schedule
While fans of the Rangers and Rays wait to see who will earn the American League wildcard nod, Major League Baseball announced the post season schedule and a possible tie-breaker schedule.
According to MLB, The Indians enter the final day of the regular season with a one-game lead in the AL Wild Card standings over the Rays and Rangers, who are tied.
If Sunday ends with a two-way tie between the Rangers and Rays, the tiebreaker will be played at 8:07 p.m. ET on Monday in Texas. The Rangers edged Tampa Bay, 4-3, in the season series.
If there is a three-way tie, the first tiebreaker would be played between the Indians and Rays in Cleveland at 4:07 p.m. on Monday, with the winner of that game earning a Wild Card berth.
The loser would play the Rangers at 4:07 p.m. on Tuesday, with the location dependent on which team won the season series.
The Rays hold a 4-2 edge over the Indians, who hold a 5-1 advantage over Texas.
The winner of the second tiebreaker would advance to the AL Wild Card game, which will take place on Wednesday.
If the Indians and Rangers end up tied atop the Wild Card standings, the Indians will host the Wild Card Game. If the Indians and Rays are tied for the top two Wild Card spots, the Rays will be the home team.
No matter what happens, this will be a 'Yankee Free' October. This is only the second time in 19-years that the New York Yankees have not earned a spot in post-season play.
