Man Charged After Fatal Thruway Accident

Syracuse, NY (WIBX) - An Oneida man is facing charges following a fatal accident on the Thruway.

It happened early Sunday morning between exits 34 and 34-A near Syracuse.

State Police say 29-year old Alan McCarthy went off the road, hit a guide rail and flipped over.

His passenger, 23-year old Jessica Wingate of Earlville, was killed in the accident.

McCarthy was taken to University Hospital in Syracuse with non-life threatening injuries.

He was charged with vehicular manslaughter and DWI.
