ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A man convicted of running over and killing a 3-year-old boy in a drunken rage has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

A jury in Rochester convicted 48-year-old Frank Cassata of Mount Morris last month on charges of murder, drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident. Cassata was sentenced on Thursday.

Prosecutors say Cassata was drunk and had been arguing with a group of people when he plowed his car onto a Rochester sidewalk trying to hit one of the men in the confrontation. Instead, the vehicle went onto a nearby lawn and hit 3-year-old Amir Pallet, who died.

Cassata drove off and crashed into a car about a mile away.
