The man the Oneida County Sheriff's Office was looking for nearly a week ago has been found dead. According to the Sheriff's Department, 42-year-old Gerard M. Dano left his home on foot after making concerning statements, and hadn't been seen since. Police were treating the incident as a missing person's case.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff's Office, K-9s, drones and plenty of searchers spent the last week and a half unsuccessfully trying to locate Dano. Dano was last seen walking South on Trenton Road in the Town of Deerfield, according to the OCSD.  Dano had been missing since March 20th.

According to Oneida County Sheriff, Robert Maciol, Dano was located deceased on Crooked Brook Rd. in the Town of Deerfield early Wednesday, March 27th.
Maciol said that for the past week, Sheriff’s Patrols and Investigators conducted extensive searches of the wooded area surrounding his residence. Searches were conducted by Sheriff’s K-9’s as well as the Unmanned Aireal Systems Unit (Drones). The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the New York State Forest Rangers and New York State Police K-9 Unit during the search.
The Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine Dano’s cause of death.
