Man Pleads Guilty To Manslaughter As Jury Selection Begins

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — A New York man who was about to stand trial for murder has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and faces up to 25 years in prison.

The Erie County district attorney's office says 33 year-old Daren Alexis, of Buffalo, fatally shot 26-year-old Jadero Kelley on a Buffalo street last August.

Alexis pleaded guilty on Tuesday just as jury selection began in his state Supreme Court trial.

Sentencing is scheduled for July 7.
