THURMAN, N.Y. (AP) — Police say emergency crews rescued a man about an hour after he crashed his SUV into an icy Adirondack stream.

The Warren County sheriff's office says 75-year-old Giles Jennings went off a roadway Wednesday night and crashed into the stream in Thurman, about 60 miles north of Albany.

Police say Jennings had been trapped in the water for about an hour before a passerby spotted him and called for help. An officer broke through ice with firefighters and pulled Jennings out of his vehicle.

Jennings was taken to Glen Falls Hospital before he was transported to Albany Medical Center. No additional information on his condition was immediately available.
