Utica, NY (WIBX) - The Utica Zoo celebrated a new addition with a ribbon cutting ceremony to welcome 8-year-old Porter, the new sea lion. Victoria Cataldo, Utica Zoo Board Member says Porter came from the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans after a difficult start to life.

Cataldo said, "He had like a little bit of a troubled past, I say that kind of jokingly but he was found once crossing a street, another time he was in someones backyard going through garbage, another time he was found, actually a woman came home and found him sitting on their couch eating Cheetos with their son all in an attempt to find food, so for conservation efforts he was placed in the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans."

Cataldo says the Longo family paid for the transportation cost to bring Porter to the Utica Zoo after the death of Lenny, the last sea lion. Officials say Porter's new roommate is a female sea lion named Munchins.
