Rome, NY (WIBX) - It starts with a dialogue...that according to an official at The Rome Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, the organizers behind a movement to start a networking group, aimed at helping Military families tackle some of the issues they face.

The non-profit group is holding the first of many problem solving and networking meetings this evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at its Rome Area Chapter, 303 W. Liberty Street.  The Military Networking Group is designed to facilitate discussions, from deployment issues to strengthening community partnerships. Organizers say the goal is to also raise awareness about Military families living in the community. The efforts are in line with another joint initiative with the Red Cross and the Department of Defense aimed at proving support for Military families. Officials say a meeting titled, Coping with Deployments is already scheduled for May. According to Buffalohead, many of these families live in communities throughout the country, however, many lack the necessary tools to build partnerships with the community at large, leaving many feeling isolated. She says Military families include, spouses, parents, grandparents, veterans and other extended family members. The Military Family Networking Group is aimed at providing assistance to those living in Herkimer-Oneida-Madison County.
