More Utica Firefighters To Retire

Utica, NY (WIBX) - More and more Utica firefighters are retiring.  Now 20 high-ranking, senior members are taking the $15,000 incentive to leave the department.

That money will be payed out in April of next year.

President of the Utica Firefighters Association, Robert Wenner say each firefighter who retires is saving the city $32,000 a year.

The Utica Fire Department compliment must be trimmed to 123.

According to Wenner, all the retirees will be off the payroll by April 30th.
