London, England (WIBX) - It may have seemed funny at the time but photos of an official-looking note warning London commuters of mice attacks quickly went viral.

Would-be passengers at the Farringdon station were notified that a gang of wild mice had been "attacking customers."  The handwritten note advised folks to "place the bottom of your trousers into your socks to avoid being a victim of the Farringdon mice."

The note was taken down once Transport for London executives were made aware of it.  A spokesperson said that they do not believe the note was written by a staffer and they are not aware of any mouse problem at the station.

In the end, it was all chalked up to a harmless prank, but one that sparked a flurry of comments on Twitter.  Hannah Furness' original story appeared in London's The Telegraph.
