Muhammad Ali Laid To Rest

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky. (AP) — Muhammad Ali has made his final journey through his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky — and as he did, he was treated like the champion he was.

Thousands of mourners lined the motorcade route, chanting "Ali, Ali" — just as fans did during his boxing career.

As the limousines went by, fans stood on cars, took photos with their cellphones — and tossed flowers toward the hearse.

Still others fell silent and looked on with reverence as the hearse passed by. Ali's body was transported in a cherry-red casket draped with Islamic tapestry.

Among the pallbearers were boxers Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis — and actor Will Smith, who played Ali in a movie — and was nominated for an Oscar as a result.
