Over 100 students from several area colleges will be taking part in this weekend's fall CNY Hackathon at Mohawk Valley Community College.

This year's event welcomes students from MVCC, Utica College, SUNY Poly, Clarkson University, Le Moyne College, the University at Albany and Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES.

Jake Mihevc, Dean of STEM-Transfer Programs at MVCC, says student teams work to defend against attacks by industry professionals.

The CNY Hackathon is held at the end of each fall and spring semester and is designed to improve the state of computer science and cybersecurity education, and more closely align academia with Central New York industry partners.

This weekend's events will include a job fair on Sunday.
