JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (AP) — A new tourist attraction dedicated to comedy has announced its grand opening plans.

The opening of the National Comedy Center in western New York will coincide with the annual Lucille Ball Comedy Festival scheduled for Aug. 1-5. Both the comedy festival and the new comedy center are located in Jamestown, near Lucille Ball's childhood home.

The $50 million, 37,000-square-foot National Comedy Center will include more than 50 immersive, interactive exhibits. Among them will be a hologram theater featuring famous performances.

Executive Director Journey Gunderson says the center fulfills the late Lucille Ball's vision to have her hometown be a destination for the celebration of comedy.
