New Details Released on Fatal Hunting Accident in Sandy Creek
New details have been released on a fatal Thanksgiving hunting accident in Sandy Creek. The incident occurred in an area behind the residence at 310 Kehoe Road.
According to State Police, 24-year-old Kristopher Paro left his residence to hunt in the property behind his home at around 4:40 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day. State Police say Paro was unaware that his father, 58-year-old Kevin Paro, had entered the woods a short time earlier to hunt. Kevin was mistaken for a deer, and was shot in the chest by a .270 rifle. He was transported by ambulance to Oswego Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A joint investigation is ongoing with officers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and the State Police Forensic Identification Unit.
